人々との繋がりは収穫し終えることがありません！

収穫と感謝
 
収穫の忙しさに夢中になり、物事の本質を見逃がしてしまうことがあります。
ロック農場では、牧草、大豆、サイレージ、わら、小麦、オーツ麦、センチュリーコーンといつも何らかの作物を収穫しています。
でも、私たちが育て収穫する作物の中でセンチュリーコーンが一番大切というわけではありません。　
私たちが日々生活している中で一番大切に育てているものは、人々との繋がりです。
人々との繋がりは収穫し終えることがありません。
何故なら、人々との繋がりというものは育ち続けるからです。
センチュリーコーンを昭和鶏卵とカーギルのために育てることは特別なことです。
ロック農場にとって、センチュリーコーンを通じて昭和鶏卵のお客様とカーギルが繋がる関係を育てていくことは誇りです。　
トウモロコシを収穫する本当の意味は、センチュリーコーンに関わるすべての人々がお互いに感謝しあえる共通の基盤を提供してくれる穀物に携わっている、という事です。
「商売をするのは人と人」という言葉は私とキャロルが農場で心がけている基本の考えで、それは日々の暮らしを楽しく豊かにしてくれます。
「収穫」とは畑に実ったセンチュリーコーンを単に刈り取るという作業だけではなく、一年を通じて大地からの恵みに感謝し、一年間農業生産に従事できた事に感謝するということなのです。
黄金色に輝くセンチュリーコーンの一粒一粒を見るのはもちろん大好きですが、カーギルジャパンのセンチュリーコーンチームと交わす温かい握手や、日々アップデイトされる昭和鶏卵さんのホームページを見るということも私たちにとってとても喜ばしいものなのです。
昭和鶏卵さんのお客さん達にも「収穫（みのり）」があることでしょう。
それは、キャロルと私からの「ありがとう皆さん！」という感謝の気持ちです。
私たちが大切に育てているコーンを大切に使ってくださりありがとうございます。
そして、センチュリーコーンを通じ、私たちの友人になってくださった皆様に感謝します。

Harvest of Thanks
It is easy to get caught up in the “busyness” of harvest and ignore what is really happening. At the Lock farm it seem like we are always harvesting something; hay, cattle, soybeans, silage, straw, wheat, oats or Century Corn. Century Corn is not the most important thing that we grow & harvest. The most important thing we grow in Avon, IL is RELATIONSHIPS. We never get harvest a relationship since it never stops growing. Growing Century Corn for Showa Keiran & Cargill is a privilege. Growing the relationship that links Cargill with the customers of Showa Keiran and the Lock farm is an honor. So what is really happening at corn harvest time is the gathering of grain to provide a common ground for all of us along the Century Corn value chain to appreciate each other. “People do business with People” is a mind set that Carol & I try to put into practice on our farm, which makes life fun & fair.
 
Harvest 2016 was not just harvesting Century Corn, it was a year round harvest that we are thankful to be able to participate in. Yes we like to see those golden kernels, but I also enjoy the warm handshake of the Cargill Japan Century Corn team, and looking at the lively upbeat web site of http://www.showa-keiran.jp You as a Showa customer have something to harvest as well – the “thank you to Showa customers” that Carol & I eagerly extend to you. Thank you for using & appreciating the corn we grow. and that you for being our friend. All of us need to thank Cargill Japan for providing the opportunity to serve each other.
